(CNN) -- There have been a number of high-profile cases of
hospital killings throughout the United States in the past 15
years. Here are some that made the headlines:
| 1997, Clinton, Indiana: |
Former nurse Orville Lynn Majors
is charged with murdering six hospital patients in an
intensive-care ward at the former Vermillion County hospital.
Police said he injected the patients with chemicals. He is
awaiting trial. |
| 1990, Lindenhurst, New York: |
Richard Angelo is convicted
of killing four hospital patients by injecting them with
drugs. He then tried to revive them in an effort to appear to
be a hero. |
| 1987, Cincinnati: |
Nurses' aide Donald Harvey pleads guilty
to 37 murders and is sentenced to life in prison. Authorities
suspect he may actually have been responsible for nearly 50
hospital deaths in southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. |
| 1984, Riverside, California: |
Nurse Richard Diaz is
sentenced to death after killing 12 elderly patients with an
overdose of a heart drug. |
