Dodgers sale to Murdoch's Fox Group approved

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (CNN) -- Major League Baseball team owners Thursday approved the sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers to Rupert Murdoch's Fox Group.

The sale was approved despite some opposition led by Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner, who has publicly criticized arch-rival Murdoch and spoke against the sale at the owners meeting.

The sale from Dodgers owner Peter O'Malley to the Fox Group needed approval from three-quarters of National League team owners and a majority of American League team owners.
