NEWINGTON, Connecticut (CNN) -- A disgruntled employee walked into Connecticut lottery headquarters on Friday and opened fire, killing four employees and then himself, state police said.

The shootings occurred in Newington, about 10 miles south of the state capital, Hartford.

Some of the victims were reported to be lottery supervisors but the names of the gunman and the people he shot were not immediately available. Neither was the specific motive for the shootings.

A man injured as he escaped from the shooter was taken to Hartford Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, said James Battaglio, a hospital spokesman. He also suffered an injury as he jumped onto a moving vehicle while he was trying to get out of the shooter's way, Battaglio said.

The gunman was armed with a 9 mm Beretta, CNN affiliate WVIT-TV reported. Police put all lottery employees on school buses and questioned them.
