LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- The FBI has arrested nine members of a gang it says hooked up laptop computers and video cameras to ATM machines and stole $2 million.
The members of the ring were arrested Thursday, and another suspect is still being sought.
In a 40-page affidavit, officials said the suspects connected laptop computers to ATMs in convenience stores and gas stations. Video cameras were also set up.
When a customer used the ATM, the gang's computer would download a number that is embedded in the plastic strip on the credit card.
The camera, meanwhile, would record the user's personal identification number as it was entered on the ATM's panel.
The ring then used the information to make their own cards, and used them to take $2 million out of other people's accounts.
