A dog and her kittens

Web posted at: 11:40 p.m. EST (0440 GMT)CAPE TOWN, South Africa (CNN) -- A mangy stray dog may have a hard time taking care of herself, but it's much harder with two kittens.
Yes, kittens.
Sude Walters discovered the odd combination when she spotted a sickly looking dog on the side of the road while driving home recently.
The dog appeared to be lactating, so Walters searched for a few minutes and found "two little bundles of black fur" hidden in nearby bushes.
She took the dog and what she thought were "pups" home. After giving the mother a meal, to her amazement, the "pups" started to purr.
The dog was mothering two kittens. Emily, as Walters calls the dog, and the adopted kittens are doing much better now that they are off the street.
How the three animals came together is still a mystery, but it's proof that cats always land on their feet.
