JACKSONVILLE, Florida (CNN) -- Thousands of onlookers were having a blast -- literally -- as they watched the destruction of the Robert Meyer Hotel in downtown Jacksonville Saturday.
The 39-year-old building was imploded to make way for a new federal courthouse.
About five minutes before the blast, police helicopters warned off a man in an ultra-light plane who'd gotten too close and too low.
Then, after a 10-second countdown, it took just six seconds for the 21-story hotel to come crashing to the ground in a huge dust cloud.
