The following statements are from the tapes as quoted in the
Newsweek article published on America Online. The tapes
were made secretly during conversations between former White
House aide Linda Tripp and former White House intern Monica
Lewinsky. Newsweek says it cannot independently verify the
authenticity of the recording.
Monica Lewinsky:
"He won't settle [the Paula Jones case]. He's in denial."
On keeping her relationship with the president a secret:
"I have lied my entire life."
"I will deny it (the relationship) so he will not get screwed
in the case, but I'm going to get screwed personally."
"Maybe we should just tell the creep. Maybe we should just
say, don't ever talk to me again, I f----d you over (by
telling others about the affair), now you have this
information, do whatever you want with it."
Saying she can't tell the president that she has told others
of the relationship:
"If I do that, I'm just going to f---ing kill myself."
