CLEARWATER, Florida (CNN) -- Conventional wisdom says puppy love doesn't last long. But that won't be the case for Abby and Clown.

The pair of poodles tied the knot Wednesday at a ceremony held at the Highland Pine Nursing Home in Clearwater.

While it may seem doggone strange to some, the unconventional union is part of a program called PUP -- Pets Uplifting People.

And it seems to work. Residents of the nursing home certainly seemed to get a kick out of the doggie nuptials.

And as for Abby and Clown, they're presumably living in canine connubial bliss.
