ST. CLOUD, Florida (CNN) -- At least two tornadoes spun
through central Florida early Saturday, and one twister slightly injured at least eight people, authorities said.
In Kissimmee Park, near St. Cloud, two homes were destroyed
when a twister touched down, said Osceola County Fire-Rescue
Battalion Chief Sam Jackson.
He said no one was in either house when they were destroyed,
and no injuries were reported. About 40 homes were left
without power.
Emergency management officials in Polk County, west of
Osceola County, also confirmed that a twister touched down
Saturday, overturning mobile homes and injuring at least
eight people.
The storms also damaged several homes near Winter Haven, and flipped over some portable classrooms outside Haines City, said Pete McNally, with Polk County Emergency Management.
