NEW YORK (CNN) -- Kathleen Caronna, the woman injured during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, is coming out of her coma, hospital officials said Tuesday.
"She is in serious but stable condition," said St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center spokeswoman Michelle Pipia.
Caronna was knocked unconscious by a piece of a street lamp that fell on her after the Cat-in-The-Hat balloon struck it in a high wind. Doctors performed brain surgery on her this month.
Three other parade watchers were hurt in the same incident, none as seriously. In past years, there have been injuries at the Macy's Thanksgiving parade resulting from high winds that caused the giant balloon floats to crash.
