WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Children of Afghan ancestry on Saturday delivered 20,000 postcards to the White House urging President Clinton to support an international ban on land mines.

They demonstrated against land mines outside the White House.

Many of the cards have images of people with missing arms and legs or show images of land mines, including the so-called butterfly mines that are so small that they will fit into children's hands.

This event was sponsored by the group "Save the Children" and "the International Campaign to Ban Land Mines."
