BROWNWOOD, Texas (CNN) -- An Air Force Reserve F-16 fighter jet crashed Thursday afternoon near the desert town of Brownwood, Texas.
The pilot ejected and was later rescued by a search team. He sustained only minor injuries.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. during "a routine training mission," said Air Force spokesman Chuck Jones. The plane was flying out of the Carswell Air Reserve Station near Fort Worth, Texas.
The plane crashed some 200 miles southwest of the Fort Worth base, Jones said.
