NEW YORK (CNN) -- Central Park in New York went, literally,
to the dogs Sunday -- at least 2,000 of them.
The park was the setting for "Woofstock '97," with canines
and their owners turning out for a howling good time. The
event was a fund-raiser for the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

For the dogs, it was a chance to show off their athletic
prowess -- or just plain show off. The best part was they got
to lap up all the attention from onlookers.
