SEATTLE (CNN) -- It's October. Time for falling leaves,
chilly weather, hot cider and tiny ghosts and goblins who go
door to door pleading for candy.
And it's the perfect time for pumpkin carving. Folks in
Seattle this weekend participated in a unique variation of
the custom
They used chain saws.
The event was held during opening events for Oktoberfest in
the city's Fremont neighborhood.
The site of a chain saw being used to sculpt the familiar
smiling pumpkin face that symbolizes the season might have
been unusual, but it was, at the same time, very appropriate
for a time of year often associated with horror.
An applause meter was used to pick the winner.
