CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CNN) -- Flooding in Texas claimed the
lives of two teen-aged boys, a police spokesman in Corpus
Christi said.
Authorities said the boys were apparently sucked underwater
while playing in flooded fields near a large drainage ditch.
Their parents had reported them missing on Saturday
afternoon. The bodies were discovered Sunday.
The floodwaters were beginning to recede in Corpus Christi
following days of rain.
The nearby towns of Bishop and Driscoll, harder hit by the
heavy rainfall, also saw receding waters. Residents of both
towns faced evacuations after up to 15 inches of rain fell on
the area in three days. Nearly half of Bishop's 5,000
residents were evacuated to the Bishop High School.
