DETROIT (CNN)-- Dr. Jack Kevorkian's lawyer said Tuesday a
Colorado woman with multiple sclerosis had died in a motel
room in suburban Detroit. Geoffrey Fieger's office did not
say if Kevorkian assisted in the death of Kari Miller, or
when she died.
A preliminary report from the Macomb County, Michigan,
medical examiner listed Miller's death as a suicide and said
she died from an injection. Two fresh needle marks were on
her arms, said the examiner, Werner Spitz. Many people who
have died with Kevorkian's help have died from lethal
injections.
Spitz had not determined if Miller, 54, suffered from
multiple sclerosis, but he did say she suffered from a brain
disorder.
The release from Fieger's office said the Englewood,
Colorado, woman died "peacefully." Kevorkian's attorney also
released a letter from Miller that said she could no longer
live with intolerable pain.
"I no longer chose to live my life suffering with the
constant pain or being so disabled. I could no longer sit.
Or even lie down in bed. Sitting in my wheelchair or riding
in my scooter was unbearable," the letter said.
The retired pathologist and assisted suicide advocate has
been linked to five deaths since August 26, and has
acknowledged attending 50 suicides since 1990.
