Canadians win International Geography Olympiad
August 6, 1997Web posted at: 9:05 p.m. EDT (0105 GMT) WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The National Geographic Society has been holding an event this week called the International Geography Olympiad. Teams of student geography champions from nine countries competed in three events -- a written test, an oral competition moderated by TV game show host Alex Trebek and an actual field test of geography skills at Washington's National Zoo. When it ended Wednesday, Canada's team was the winner. The highlights follow:
