LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Firefighters expect to have a 3,750-acre wildfire in the San Bernardino National Forest completely contained by 6 p.m. (9 p.m. EDT) Tuesday.

The blaze, which began Saturday, claimed the life of a helicopter pilot whose water-dropping aircraft crashed on Sunday while fighting the fire 75 miles east of Los Angeles.

Carey Thomas Meeks, who allegedly started the fire with illegal fireworks, apologized to the pilot's relatives.

Another fire that burned for several days in the Angeles National Forest 25 miles east of Los Angeles was contained late Sunday. Officials expect to have full control of the fire by Tuesday evening.
