O.J. Simpson's business manager questioned at hearing
June 12, 1997Web posted at: 9:27 p.m. EDT (2127 GMT) SANTA MONICA, California (CNN) -- O.J. Simpson's business manager provided limited answers at a hearing Thursday to determine where the former football star's assets are, an attorney for Fred Goldman said. Attorneys for the plaintiffs in the civil case against Simpson are trying to collect a $33.5 million judgment, after Simpson was found liable for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole and Ronald Goldman. Simpson was acquitted of criminal charges in their slayings. At a hearing last month, Simpson said he did not know the whereabouts of many of his assets, including the Heisman Trophy he won as the country's top college football player in 1968. In Thursday's closed-door session, his business manager provided little additional information, said attorney Peter Gelblum, who represents Ronald Goldman's father. "Skip Taft has not been forthcoming, he is giving the most limited answers he can," Gelblum said during a lunch break. Judge David Perez said Taft does not have to answer specific questions about Simpson's pension fund at a New York bank. A hearing later this month will determine which pension funds the plaintiffs' will have access to. The debtor examination was held on the third anniversary of the stabbing deaths of Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. Gelblum said the timing was "purely coincidental." Taft said he did not know how Simpson planned to spend the anniversary. Special Section
