BOULDER, Colorado (CNN) -- Search warrants and other documents relating to the investigation of JonBenet Ramsey's death will remain sealed under an extension of a Boulder County judge's order.

Judge Diane MacDonald decided Friday that releasing the "search warrants, search warrant affidavits, returns, inventories and other documents filed with the court" could hurt the chances of catching the 6-year-old's killer.

MacDonald granted the request by District Attorney Alex Hunter to extend her earlier order another 120 days "or until an arrest is made."

Without this ruling, the papers would have been automatically unsealed this week, when the first order expired. The documents could reveal details about how the child was killed, the kind of weapon used and other information that has not been confirmed by officials.

JonBenet, a former beauty queen, was found strangled and beaten in the basement of her family home on December 26.
