Man killed during Marine training at Texas-Mexico border

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- One or more U.S. Marines shot and killed a man Tuesday night along the Texas-Mexico border after he allegedly fired shots at them.

The incident occured near Redford on the U.S. side of the border, Defense Deparment spokeswoman Maureen Bossch told CNN. Four Marines based at Camp Pendelton, California, were on training exercises to help the U.S. Border Patrol and federal anti-drug efforts when the incident occurred, she said.

Among those investigating the shooting are the FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety and military officials.
