May 16, 1997Web posted at: 8:07 p.m. EDT (0007 GMT) LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- A judge on Friday rejected requests by media attorneys to unseal transcripts of the grand jury proceedings in the Ennis Cosby murder case. Superior Court Judge John Reid refused a request by several news organizations for the documents to be unsealed. Lawyer Karen Frederiksen, who represents the Los Angeles Times and CBS, said she was considering an appeal. Mikhail Markhasev, 18, is charged with murder with special circumstances and attempted robbery in the slaying of Ennis Cosby, the only son of comedian Bill Cosby and his wife Camille. The Ukrainian immigrant pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday. A trial date is expected to be set May 30 when prosecutors are due to announce whether they will seek the death penalty. Ennis Cosby, 27, was fatally shot January 16 after he pulled off an interstate, apparently to change a tire. Related stories:
