CAMP PENDLETON, California (CNN) -- The Marine Corps released the names of four men missing and presumed dead after the weekend crash of their helicopter off the California coast.

Officials had called off the search for the crew of the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter by Monday. The craft, based at the Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro, California, went down Saturday night while participating in an amphibious exercise at Camp Pendleton.

A small amount of wreckage was discovered during a rescue operation on Sunday.

The four Marines have been identified as Maj. Dennis A. Dogs, 34, pilot, from Mission Viejo, California; Capt. Paul D. Barnes, 27, copilot, from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Cpl. Michael J. Tsoris, 21, crew chief, from Racine, Wisconsin.; and Lance Cpl. Rodolfo Guarjardo, 21, observer, from Beach Park, Illinois.
