May 11, 1997 CAMP PENDLETON, California (CNN) -- The Navy and Coast Guard are searching for four Marines whose helicopter crashed at sea and sank during an amphibious exercise Saturday night. An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the crash, but "right now our focus is on finding our men," said Lt. Megan Mason, a spokeswoman for Camp Pendleton. The CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter crashed at 9:26 p.m. about six miles off the coast. The helicopter belonged to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 164 based at the Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. The squadron is serving as the air combat element for the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit at Camp Pendleton.
