Sunland fire contained; Santa Clarita fire out
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Southern California firefighters gained the upper hand Friday on two brush fires that erupted late Thursday afternoon. According to U.S. Forest Service spokesman Ed Gililland, the Sunland "shooting" fire -- named because the fire broke out close to a target range -- is 100 percent contained. The fire has consumed 480 acres of brush. A skeleton crew remained on the fire lines Friday night. One outbuilding was damaged in the blaze, but no one was injured, Gililland said. Another brush fire in Santa Clarita is out, according to Los Angeles County Fire. There were no injuries and no structures lost in the 150-acre fire, although at the onset six homes were evacuated as a precaution.
