Air Force F-16 crashes; pilot OKApril 21, 1997Web posted at: 3:05 p.m. EDT (1905 GMT) WASHINGTON (CNN) -- An Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed Monday near a military training area in south Georgia but the pilot ejected safely, military authorities said . The plane went down in a swamp about 20 miles north of Moody Air Force Base in Atkinson County, said a spokesman for the base. The F-16 is a $16 million, single-seat fighter jet, although some training versions of the plane have two seats. The plane was part of the 68th fighter squadron -- the same squadron which suffered the crash of an A-10 last week.
