Alabama teen charged with 4 murders
March 26, 1997Web posted at: 10:26 p.m. EST (0326 GMT) PELHAM, Alabama (CNN) -- An Alabama teen has been charged with killing his father, his father's live-in girlfriend and the woman's two daughters. Mark Duke, 17, had been in protective custody since reporting the slayings to police Sunday night. A 19-year-old friend, Michael Brandon Samra, was also jailed on murder charges. Police said the arrest stemmed from tips phoned in after a $20,000 reward was offered.. Randy Duke, 39; Debra Mims Hunt, 29; and Hunt's daughters Chelsea, 6; and Chelisa, 7; were killed in their suburban Birmingham home. Police would not say how the victims died, although there were media reports that the adults were shot in the head and the children's throats were slashed. Reuters contributed to this report.
