GOLDSBORO, North Carolina (CNN) -- A Delta Air Lines passenger jet made an emergency landing Friday at a North Carolina Air Force base after its pilot reported smelling smoke, spokesmen said. There were no injuries.

Flight 1105, a McDonnell Douglas MD-88 aircraft, had 143 people on board. It was en route from Washington to Orlando, Florida, when it landed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Passengers left the plane using steps, and there was no smoke or fire, a Delta spokesman said. The plane was being inspected for possible problems.
