Poorly addressed letter makes trans-Atlantic trip
February 18, 1997Web posted at: 10:15 p.m. EST VALLEY STREAM, New York (CNN) -- A Long Island, New York, woman is ecstatic after a letter addressed to her only by name -- with no address of any kind -- made it to her. Sadie Cantone said the letter from her 90-year-old cousin in Naples, Italy, was addressed simply to "Alla Signora Saviera Cantone". Translated from the Italian that says: Mrs. Sadie Cantone. The envelope contained no street, town, state or country, only three Italian stamps, according to Valley Stream Postmaster Paul Lipani. It arrived at the JFK airport airmail department where they checked for Cantone's address and sent it to Valley Stream, Lipani said.
