Still no suspect in Cosby killings
February 17, 1997 LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- A month after the killing of Ennis Cosby, Los Angeles police say they still have no suspect. The 27-year-old son of actor Bill Cosby was shot near a Los Angeles freeway January 16. A composite sketch of a white male suspect was released several days later, with the hope that someone would identify the person. "We expected that to occur by now. ... That has not happened," Commander Tim McBride told CNN. Police confirm that an outside expert is examining the flat tire Cosby was changing at the time he was shot, and a written report is expected within 45 days. However, authorities will not confirm a KCBS-TV report that the tire had been slashed. Police say there is little physical evidence in the case, and releasing information about it would leave almost nothing of the type only the killer would know. Such information is routinely used to screen out false suspects. Related story:
