WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Strom Thurmond, at 94 the oldest person ever to serve in Congress, has been hospitalized with the flu but is expected to return home soon, his spokeswoman said Sunday.
Chris Cimko said Thurmond, a South Carolina Republican who lives alone, entered Walter Reed Army Medical Center January 30 after coming down with flu symptoms that also hit several others in the South Carolina Republican's office.
He remained in "good" condition Sunday at Walter Reed Army Center, said Bernard Little, public information officer. Thurmond checked into the hospital Friday evening, and is feeling better according to Capitol Hill sources. He is expected to leave the hospital Monday.
