Courthouse bomb similar to 2 found in California town
January 31, 1997
VALLEJO, California (CNN) -- A bomb that ripped a chunk out of a wall at the Solano County courthouse resembled two earlier bombs found in the past week, including one that damaged several bank ATMs, authorities said. None of the three bombs -- two of which went off -- in the former Navy town northeast of San Francisco caused any injuries. There have also been at least three bomb threats in the area. The latest bomb exploded early Thursday, blowing a manhole- sized crater in the wall. It also shattered 22 courthouse windows and damaged nearby businesses. On Saturday, a bomb made of 30 sticks of dynamite and blasting caps was found outside near a Vallejo library and dismantled. Early the next day, a device powered by a stick of dynamite exploded outside a Wells Fargo bank, damaging ATM machines. Related story:
