'John Doe No. 2' is identified
No connection to bombingJanuary 29, 1997Web posted at: 10:00 p.m. EST DENVER (CNN) -- Officials Wednesday identified the man sought in sketches of a mysterious John Doe No. 2 in the Oklahoma City bombing, and they said he had nothing to do with the case. The sketch depicts Army Pvt. Todd Bunting, who rented a truck at a Kansas body shop the day after suspect Timothy McVeigh rented the truck believed to have been used in the bombing, according to a brief filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Denver. Prosecutors said the sketch was a result of confusion on the part of employees at Elliott's Body Shop in Junction City, Kansas. Also Wednesday Federal Judge Richard Matsch ruled media in Oklahoma City won't be able to join relatives watching a closed-circuit feed of the bombing case. Instead, a closed-circuit feed of the case will be available to the media in Denver, where McVeigh is slated to go on trial March 31. Special section:Related stories:
