$500,000 bail demanded for accused baby killers
January 21, 1997 WILMINGTON, Delaware (CNN) -- Two teen-agers accused of murdering their newborn baby are expected to be freed on bond on Tuesday. Prosecutors seek $500,000 bail each for Brian Peterson and Amy Grossberg. A decision on whether to seek the death penalty is pending. Under a bail agreement between prosecutors and the defense, Peterson and Grossberg would also have to give up their passports, live with their parents in Bergen County, New Jersey, and wear electronic monitoring bracelets. If the state were to fight bail, it would have to reveal much of its evidence. Peterson and Grossberg, both 18, have not denied disposing of a newborn son in a motel dumpster last November, but they deny allegations they fractured the infant's skull. The teens were in separate colleges at the time of the alleged murder. Related stories:
