Backpack crops up on Olympic video
December 14, 1996
COLBY, Kansas (CNN) -- A man who appears to be wearing a green backpack turns around and looks at people shooting video at Centennial Olympic Park the night of the fatal July bombing, according to the person who operated the camera.
Wayne Wiens said he was videotaping his wife and friends at the park and pulled out the video after the FBI appealed to the public for information about the night of the attack.
The FBI has displayed a green, military-style backpack that it says is similar to the one containing the pipe bomb on the night of the attack. Wiens said the backpack in his video does not exactly match the FBI model.
The FBI announced a $500,000 reward Monday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the July 27 blast that killed a woman and injured 111 people.
