WHEATON, Illinois (CNN) -- Seven law enforcement officials have been charged with fabricating and concealing evidence in a 13-year-old murder case that sent two men to death row.
The indictments against three former prosecutors and four sheriff's investigators charged the seven with conspiring to frame men accused in the 1983 rape and killing of 10-year- old Jeanine Nicarico.
The two men, Rolando Cruz and Alejandro Hernandez, were later cleared when one of the sheriff's investigators changed his testimony. The murder remains unsolved.
