White House releases 1996 Christmas card
November 29, 1996 WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The 1996 White House Christmas card is a reproduction of artist Thomas McKnight's painting "White House Green Room." Among the features on the card are three stockings on the mantle for the first family, and Socks, the "first cat," sitting on a chair by the fire. McKnight also did the 1994 and 1995 White House Christmas cards. About 300,000 of the cards are being printed. The production and mailing costs for the card are paid for by the Democratic National Committee. Related site:
