NTSB, FBI meet Tuesday to discuss TWA crash
November 24, 1996Web posted at: 11:40 p.m. EST WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With scant evidence about the explosion of TWA Flight 800, investigators will meet Tuesday to determine their next step, National Transportation Safety Board Vice Chairman Robert Francis told CNN. Francis said that no source of ignition has been found among the debris recovered since the July 17th crash that killed all 230 people on board the New York-to-Paris flight. Investigators are certain that the center fuel tank exploded, but have no indication why that happened, he said. "There is no indication that any of the fuel probes had anything extraordinary about them or wrong with them," Francis said. "We're looking for the ignition source and there's nothing there that's telling us where it is." Special Section:Related stories:
