SKIATOOK, Oklahoma (CNN) -- An F-16 fighter jet crashed into a field just one block from a middle school. The pilot ejected safely and no one on the ground was injured. An Air Force spokesman said the plane was flying out of McConnell Air Force Base in Oklahoma Thursday and had just completed an air refueling mission when an engine malfunctioned. The aircraft was from the 188th Fighter Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The pilot was identified as Capt. Derrick Knight of Dallas.
