Ted Kaczynski rejects video arraignmentNovember 7, 1996Web posted at: 11:55 p.m. EST NEW YORK (CNN) -- Unabom suspect Theodore Kaczynski would rather travel to New Jersey for an arraignment on charges related to a mail-bombing death of which he is accused than give his testimony by teleconference, his lawyers told a federal judge Thursday. In addition, one of Kaczynski's federal public defenders said, the defense team was preparing a motion to have the New Jersey charges moved to the California trial to save judicial resources. Assuming that the charges stay in New Jersey, the hearing is scheduled for next month. Kaczynski pleaded not guilty in June to charges that he was responsible for four fatal bombings for which he will be tried in Sacramento. He was indicted in a 1994 New Jersey mail-bomb attack on October 1, and has been charged with mail-bomb attacks in Utah, Tennessee and Michigan in the 1980s, which injured four people.
