In other news ...One in three students sickened in Florida schoolNovember 1, 1996Web posted at: 10:00 p.m. EST MIAMI (CNN) -- Another 64 children have become sick from an unknown illness at a Dade County elementary school, bringing the total to 451 students and 13 teachers who have fallen ill since Tuesday. The Jack Gordon Elementary School has been shut down until at least Monday while health inspectors test the air, water and food. So far, neither water nor air quality checks have turned up a likely culprit. Lab results on the cafeteria food will be available no earlier than Monday. Officials from the Dade County Department of Health strongly suspect a viral infection has been passed among the students. The outbreak has caused vomiting, diarrhea, fever and cramps lasting up to 36 hours. The only child hospitalized has been released.
