No votes for candidate costumes
October 30, 1996Web posted at: 10:40 p.m. EDT LOS ANGELES (CNN) - It's Halloween, and it's an election year. The combination usually means a run on "candidate" costumes. But not this year.
Costume shops in Los Angeles report that "Bill Clinton",
"Hillary", "Bob Dole" and "Ross Perot" are somewhat popular
choices this year, but it seems nobody wants to be "Al Gore".

"I sold Al Gore just two time, no more," said one shop owner. And what about Jack Kemp? His likeness cannot be found at most costume shops. In fact, many costumers report that political costumes are not as popular as they used to be. "No, that's very '80s," said one shopper. "No one even pays attention."
