Members of West Virginia militia arrested for alleged bomb plot
October 11, 1996 WASHINGTON (CNN) -- CNN has learned that five members of a West Virginia militia group have been arrested for planning to blow up an FBI complex in Clarksburg, West Virginia. A federal law enforcement source said members of the self- proclaimed "Mountaineers Militia" had been developing a plan to plant explosives at the FBI's new West Virginia center. The source said the five militia members were taken into custody Friday morning. Officials were expected to hold a news conference later in the day. The complex allegedly targeted by the militia houses the FBI's fingerprint center, the Criminal Justice Information Service, and other computerized data banks.
