Simpson civil suit pretrial judge will also be trial judge

SANTA MONICA, California (CNN) -- The judge hearing pretrial motions in the O.J. Simpson wrongful death civil suit will also preside at the trial itself. Superior Court Judge Alan Haber, 53, was appointed on Tuesday by a supervising judge. The trial is set to begin September 9.
Simpson was acquitted last October of the 1994 killings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Their relatives sued the former football star, claiming he's responsible for the deaths and should pay damages.
