ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) -- The skies over Albuquerque are awash in color this week. Almost 900 hot air balloons are in town to take part in the 28th annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta which began Saturday. The festival lasts through Sunday, October 10.

Events include several dramatic, early morning mass ascensions, a dusk 'Balloon Glow,' a long-distance balloon race, kite building classes and more.
