For the islands, Floyd's timing is good
Bahamas tourism dodges disaster

(CNN) -- The islands of the Bahamas were some of the first land to take the brunt of Hurricane Floyd's force. Planes were moved to other parts of the Caribbean, cruise ships swung around and headed for safer waters near Mexico and ham-radio operators kept the United States east coast informed about what was on the way.
As the luck of timing would have it, however, the Bahamas' main industry, tourism, won't feel as powerful an impact as might be expected. It's the low season in the Bahamas.
"Had this been like in March or December," says the Islands Promotion Board's Nettie Symonette, "there would be something different altogether."
