LONDON (CNN) -- Notting Hill didn't need Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts to attract anybody's attention. The trendy London district has been home for the last 35 years to what organizers say is Europe's largest festival -- the Notting Hill Carnival.
Two million people are expected to come to Notting Hill this weekend for a multicultural cornucopia of treats for all the senses. Caribbean immigrants launched the festival in 1964 to bring something from their old homes to London -- and to bring their diverse community together in the streets to celebrate.
CNN's cameras wander the 3-mile long Carnival route, taking in the costumed players, steel bands and dancers -- the Notting Hill that Hugh and Julia may have missed when they embarked on their Hollywood romance.
