Rome's landmarks hidden behind scaffoldingEternal City prepares for Vatican's Jubilee 2000
August 8, 1999 ROME (CNN) -- Planning a Roman holiday this summer? Get ready to tour one of the world's greatest construction sites. Chances are you won't get to see much of the Vatican, the Colosseum or Bernini's famous Four Rivers fountain. Those famous landmarks -- along with hundreds of other legendary Roman scenes -- are obscured by scaffolding and barricades as the city undergoes renovations in preparation for the Vatican's year-long celebration of Christ's birth. CNN's Gayle Young has details.
