ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) -- Those who feel a need for speed have a new choice at Disney's Epcot Center in Florida. A new ride called "Test Track" officially opens Thursday, after hitting a few bumps in the road.
Test Track is sponsored by General Motors and gives those brave enough to ride a feel for what it is like to be a crash-test dummy in new car tests. It was expected to be running smoothly in 1998, but was stalled by glitches that caused long lines and delays during its initial opening to the public.
The ride tests seven areas: hill climbing, suspension, brakes, environmental changes, ride handling, collision, and high speed.
The indoor/outdoor ride hits a maximum speed of 65 mph on an elevated outdoor track. CNN gadget guy Ed Curran takes us for a spin.
