WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Simultaneous portraits of a 63-year-old George Washington, painted by the father-and-son team of Charles and Rembrandt Peale, are among the paintings of the first president on display at the National Portrait Gallery. The exhibition of Washington portraits gives modern Americans a multifaceted look at the man whose face most know only from a dollar bill. Museum Curator Ellen Miles explains the exhibit and the people behind the canvases.
"George and Martha Washington: Portraits from the Presidential Years" will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington through August 8, 1999.
